Position Description
This is a categorically funded position and continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of grant funds and approval by the Governing Board.
Under direction, the Job Developer will work with local employers and organizations to establish and fulfill employment and work-based learning opportunities for students.
Responsibilities
Scope of Assignment
- Evaluate and determine the needs of industry, employers, and community partners.
- Develop, oversee, and implement marketing and employment/work-based learning outreach activities.
- Evaluate, coordinate and leverage the resources of the diverse agencies to provide comprehensive support for employers, students, and educational programs.
- Collaboratively develop and manage a strategic plan for career placement services.
- Create programs to ensure certificate and degree completers are competitive in securing and connected to living wage jobs within their field of study.
Responsibilities
- Envision, develop, and implement a strategic plan for job development and placement services that ensures the College's CTE programs meet relevant funding metrics.
- Research and conduct business development outreach to and build relationships with prospective employers willing to hire and provide work-based learning opportunities to Chaffey College students.
- Establish and cultivate local business and government partnerships regularly to identify work-based learning and employment opportunities for students during and after program completion.
- Ensure high level of customer service to a diverse community of business/industry employers, faculty, and students.
- Assess community and business needs and coordinate with the Director to communicate with appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain effective collaborative relationships with local business, public agencies, and community-based organizations; as well as with city, county, and state government representatives and community college faculty and staff.
- Develop and implement, in coordination with the Director and College departments, a marketing plan informing students and others of services and opportunities.
- Oversee and contribute to development for brochures, flyers, newsletters, and advertisements for programs of study, career pathways, and employment information.
- Coordinate and deliver job fairs and related events attending to all stakeholders including employers, students, and faculty.
- Collaborate within the Transfer and Career Center(s) in offering presentations, lectures, workshops, and interview panels on various employability skills such as application preparation, resume writing, interview techniques, job retention, job market trends, and internships.
- Develop criteria for screening student applicants to ensure readiness to enter the job market.
- Assess and evaluate student preparation for employment opportunities; determine student skills, academic and career path, interests, goals, and aspirations; ensure student connection to and use of relevant career preparation supports.
- Coach students in applying for positions, navigating the hiring process, and finding and securing ideal work-based learning opportunities.
- Assist with the coordination of internships and apprenticeships.
- Document student and employer contact, activities, and track and report student placement and outcomes.
- Maintain and oversee funding reporting including narrative and expenditure reports within strict time constraints.
- Create a friendly, supportive atmosphere for students, staff, faculty, and our public.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in workforce development, career development, career preparation, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated success in project development and management and in meeting organizational outcomes.
- Proven success in prospecting opportunities and achieving identified outcomes and metrics on a regular basis.
- Experience managing and building relationships with employers, government agencies, and community organizations.
- Proven ability to effectively network with others, build and manage client relationships, and influence key decision-makers.
- Ability to work within all levels of the organization and address the priorities of stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze data and market research and use findings to inform strategy.
- Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate and resolve problems and delays.
Additional Information
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Monday - Friday, some Saturdays. Positions in this classification may be required to work varied hours according to need.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month, temporary professional expert position. Continued employment is contingent upon approval of the Chaffey College Governing Board. The salary is $7,200/monthly. Excellent benefits include: health care, dental program, and vision services for employees and eligible dependents and retirement coverage through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
